Kassidy De Jong poured in a game-high 29 points in leading Northwestern to an 82-62 win over Mayville State this afternoon at the Bultman Center. Northwestern stays unbeaten, improving to 4-0 on the year. 

De Jong made 13-of-20 field goal attempts and also pulled down 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. The sophomore also dished out five assists. Haley Birks netted a career-high 25 points, reaching double figures in her fourth straight game and her second 20+ game of the season.

For the second straight game, Northwestern fell behind early as they trailed 5-0 and 19-16 at the end of the first quarter

Still down one (28-27), Northwestern closed the first half with a 14-2 run, sparked by De Jong (6pts) and a three-point play by Zomermaand

Northwestern led 41-30 at the half and maintained an 11-point advantage at the end of the third (56-45)

A 15-0 Northwestern run at the start of the fourth quarter put the game away; Paige Herrboldt began the decisive run with a three-pointer and Paige Danner capped it with a jumper from the left wing

Northwestern shot 44% from the field, 28% (5-for-18) from the three-point line. 

The Red Raiders held a slight 44-43 edge on the boards, led by De Jong (10) and Darbi Gustafson (7)

Northwestern committed just 11 turnovers and forced Mayville State into 21

Renee Maneman dished out a team-leading 10 assists; her first 10+ assist game of the season and fifth for her career
