First Quarter Run Keys Northwestern Win Over Presentation

Northwestern College defeated Presentation 79-55 in the final game of the Northwestern Classic played today at the Bultman Center. 

Kassidy De Jong scored a game-high 29 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, her second double-double of the season and seventh for her career. Haley Birks poured in 16 points and Darbi Gustafson netted 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her second career double-double. Paige Danner scored 10, giving Northwestern four players in double figures.

How It Happened...

Northwestern scored 11 straight points en route to a 19-3 scoring run as the Red Raiders jumped out to a 24-10 first quarter lead. De Jong (10) and Birks (7) provided the scoring during the run while holding Presentation to one field goal for over six minutes.

Baskets by Birks and De Jong pushed the lead to 18 (28-10) early in the second quarter and Northwestern led by as much as 25 before the Saints closed on a 12-4 run to put the score at 46-29 at halftime.

Northwestern maintained a double digit lead for the entire second half as Presentation never got closer than 17 over the final 20 minutes

Northwestern shot just 39% for the game, 14% (2/14) from the three-point line

The Red Raiders held a huge edge on the boards (61-33) leading to a 26-4 advantage in second chance points

Renee Maneman dished out six assists

Both teams committed 14 turnovers

Presentation shot 31% for game and was led by Macy Toelle with 24 points
