Northwestern College lost to No. 3 Hastings in straight sets, 25-16, 25-15 and 25-16. The Red Raiders move to 6-5 in the GPAC, 14-15 overall while Hastings improves to 10-1 in conference play, 19-2 overall.
The Red Raiders were held in check in their attack, hitting .110 for the match, their third lowest hitting percentage of the season. A.J. Horstman led the way with nine kills in 27 attempts and Lauryn Hilger put down seven kills in 27 attacks.
Jessa Doom directed the Red Raider offense with 21 assists and Jillian Estes led the backrow defense with nine digs.
Hastings hit .296 for the match and held a 7-2 advantage in blocks. Katie Placke smashed 13 kills in 22 attempts with just one error and Sage Meyer put down 11 kills. The Broncos served nine aces, three each for Meyer and Emily Filsinger.
Northwestern will travel to Mitchell, S.D. to play Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday night, Oct. 19 at 7:30pm.
