Shane Bouman

Shane Bouman took over the Northwestern College softball program in August of 2018 and has collected over 200 wins leading the Red Raider softball program. He has been named the GPAC Coach of the Year in each of the last three seasons, leading the Raiders to three-straight GPAC regular season titles and back-to-back GPAC tournament titles. Bouman surpassed the 500 career wins mark in March 2025 across his 20+ years of coaching experience.

In the historic 2023 season for the Red Raiders, Bouman led the program to new heights, setting the single-season record for wins in a season (47). He coached the program's first Player of the Year since Renae Bahrke in 2002 in Gwen Mikkelsen. The five First Team All-GPAC honors tied the program-record for First Team selections in a season in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) era, tying the mark with the 2002 team.

Northwestern once again raised the bar in 2024 as Bouman led the Raiders to their first 50-win season and highest ranking in school history. Northwestern finished the season 50-7 (19-3 GPAC), winning both the GPAC regular season and tournament titles, ranking No. 9 in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll, and earning a host bid for the NAIA Opening Round.

The Raiders reached the highest ranking in GPAC softball history in 2025, peaking at No. 4 on March 5. Northwestern also took down its highest-ranked opponent in program history, defeating No. 2 Science & Arts (Okla.) 7-1 on February 24.

Prior to coming to Orange City, Bouman led two National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I programs at his alma Mater South Dakota State (2002-07) and Indiana State (2012-17). In his coaching career, he has compiled over 400 career wins as a head coach.
