Doug Heidebrink is in his first season as an assistant in the Red Raider softball program.
Heidebrink most recently served as the head coach at LeMars Community High School for six seasons (2009-14). He guided the Bulldogs to the Lakes Conference Championship back-to-back years in 2012 and 2013, finishing the 2012 season with an impressive 30-1 record. Heidibrink's 2013 squad qualified for the state tournament for the first time in program history, placing fifth with a 2-2 record at Fort Dodge.
Heidebrink was named the District 1 coach of the year two years (2008 and 2013) and also served as the head coach at Westmar College from 1991-97.
Heidebrink had a standout playing career's in men's fastpitch where he was a member of the South Dakota State Champion team from 1981-85 and also played for two ISC world tournaments for Sioux City.
