VandenBerg was hired in May 2024 to take over as the head coach of Northwestern's men's tennis program.

“I’m excited to transition to the head coach position and coach the talented group of men we have,” VandenBerg said. “The program has improved drastically in recent years and is in a position to be a strong competitor in the GPAC. I look forward to coaching current and future Northwestern tennis players to improve as competitors, men, and leaders in the community.

In his first season leading the men's tennis program, the Raiders advanced to the GPAC tournament and had three all-conference selections.

A 2023 Northwestern graduate with degrees in finance and economics, VandenBerg was a four-year member of the men’s tennis program. During his time at Northwestern, he earned All-GPAC and NAIA Scholar Athlete honors three years. Following his playing career, he assisted former head coach Monte Tilgner in the 2023-24 season.

Hailing from Mason City, Iowa, VandenBerg also works at Interstates in Sioux Center is married to his wife, Julia '25.
