Raiders Run Up Record Marks in Series Finale

FREMONT, Neb. – Northwestern broke the single-season and single-game home runs record in today's doubleheader at Midland, scoring 36 total runs to sweep the four-game series against the Warriors.

How It Happened
Northwestern's offense stepped up for a 14-6 victory over Midland on Friday at Moller Field. The Red Raiders tallied 13 hits, including five doubles and three home runs, to overpower the Warriors' pitching.

The Warriors took an early lead in the first inning with a two-run homer by Owen Glover followed by a solo shot from Hunter Spencer, pushing them ahead 3-0.

The Raiders responded effectively in the second inning. Bryce Click's two-RBI single and Ranier Castillo's two-run homer highlighted a six-run rally, moving the visitors ahead, 6-3.

In the third inning, Castillo delivered again with a three-run home run, contributing to a six-run frame for the Raiders. Brody Ayers capped the inning with a two-RBI double, extending the lead to 12-4.

Nikolai Wede doubled to score Click in the fourth, adding another pair to their total to make it 13-4.

The Warriors added a run in the fifth, cutting the deficit to 13-5, but the Raiders maintained control.

After the Warriors cut the deficit to 13-5, Karsten Mathsen hit his first career home run in the seventh inning, adding insurance. The Warriors added a run in their half of the seventh, but the Raiders clinched a 14-6 victory.

How It Happened
Northwestern outlasted Midland in a high-scoring marathon, securing a 22–17 victory in the fourth game of the series.

The Red Raiders tallied seven home runs and 22 hits, including a decisive seven-run surge in the ninth inning. This performance broke the single-game home runs record for Northwestern.

The Raiders began their scoring spree in the second inning. Calab Caciari was hit by a pitch and Brody Ayers followed with a single. Isaac Short then had an infield hit, advancing to second on a throwing error that allowed Caciari and Ayers to score. Tyler Schroeder added an RBI single, and Bryce Click capped the inning with a two-run homer to left center to make it 5-1 in favor of Northwestern.

In the third inning, Grant Guidry hit a solo home run to right, and a sacrifice fly by Schroeder brought in another run, extending Northwestern's advantage to 7-3. Nikolai Wede then added a two-run homer in the fourth inning after Midland came within one, pushing Northwestern's lead back to three runs.

The fifth inning saw Short homer to left, adding a run, but Midland countered with eight runs, including a three-run homer by Adam Muniz Jr., which gave the Warriors a 14–10 lead after five innings.

Wede homered again in the sixth inning, but Midland added three more runs, making it 17–11 through six innings.

The eighth inning saw the Red Raiders rally for the second time this weekend. Devin Dirkx singled and later scored on a single by Guidry. Jack Craig and Schroeder each contributed RBI singles, and Click reached on an error that allowed another run to score, narrowing the gap to 17-15.

In the ninth inning, TJ Silliman's two-run homer tied the game. Later, a combination of hits and errors, including a two-run homer by Dirkx, pushed the Raiders ahead. Northwestern scored seven runs in the inning to clinch the game, securing a 22–17 victory over the Warriors. This game also saw the Raiders surpass their single-season home runs record, moving to 47 on the year.
