Coach Brian Wede Wins 500th Game in the Sunshine State

AUBRUNDALE, Fla. — Northwestern (10-5) defeated Trinity College of Jacksonville (8-11) with a final score of 10-5 on Saturday, highlighted by Raider's 11 hits and a home run.

With the win, Coach Brian Wede won his 500th career game, marking a significant milestone in his coaching career.

Trinity College of Jacksonville took an early lead in the first inning when they scored on a wild pitch, followed by an RBI groundout. The Raiders ended the inning trailing 2-0.

In the third inning, the Raiders evened the score. Calab Caciari singled and advanced on a wild pitch before Isaac Short hit a two-run homer to left field. The score was tied at 2-2 after three.

Northwestern took the lead in the fifth inning. Brody Ayers singled and scored on a passed ball, while Bryce Click also crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Grant Guidry, making it 4-2.

The Eagles tied the game in the sixth with three runs. However, the Raiders reclaimed the lead in their half when Short scored on an error, ending the inning at 5-5.

In the seventh inning, the Raiders pulled ahead again. Calab Caciari and Short hit consecutive RBI singles, bringing the score to 7-5.

The eighth inning saw the Red Raiders extending their lead as Caciari delivered a bases-clearing double, scoring three runs. The inning concluded with the Raiders leading 10-5.

Northwestern secured the victory with a final score of 10-5 over TCJ.

Up Next: the Raiders will face Aquinas in a double header starting at 9:15 a.m. CT Monday, March 9 in Winter Haven, Florida.
