DAVENPORT, Fla. — Northwestern College fell to Lawrence TechUniversity with a final score of 6-2 on Thursday in a neutral-site matchup. Despite a late rally in the ninth inning, the Raiders managed only four hits and committed three errors.
Northwestern faced off against the Blue Devils and saw a scoreless first five innings as both teams struggled to break through their opponents' pitching.
Lawrence Tech capitalized in the sixth inning, scoring three runs with a combination of a single by Justin Baird and a series of errors contributing to two additional unearned runs. This gave the Blue Devils a 3-0 lead through six innings.
In the eighth inning, the Blue Devils extended their lead by scoring three more runs. D'Andrea Parnell started the scoring with a triple and later scored on a throwing error. Two more runs came in with RBI singles, further extending Lawrence Tech's advantage to 6-0 through eight innings.
The Raiders rallied in the ninth inning, attempting a comeback.
Calab Caciari was hit by a pitch and later scored on a double by
Nikolai Wede.
Karsten Mathsen also scored on a balk, giving the Red Raiders two runs in their final at-bat. However, the late effort was not enough to overcome the deficit, and the Blue Devils secured a 6-2 victory.
