How It Happened
Northwestern opened their week in Florida on Monday, falling to Cornerstone in a close 3-2 contest. The Red Raiders' offense was highlighted by a home run in the third inning, but it was not enough to secure the win.

The Golden Eagles scored first with two unearned runs in the second inning after a double, and a throwing error allowed two runs to cross the plate.

The Raiders responded in the bottom of the third when Nikolai Wede hit a solo home run, his third of the year, to cut the deficit to 2-1 in favor of the Golden Eagles after three innings.

In the sixth inning, the visitors extended their lead to 3-1. An RBI single brought a runner home from third to extend the Golden Eagles' advantage.

Northwestern attempted a comeback in the seventh inning. Devin Dirkx led off with a double and was replaced by pinch runner TJ Silliman, who scored on Ranier Castillo's RBI single. However, the rally fell short, and Cornerstone secured a 3-2 victory.

Northwestern began the game with an early lead in the first inning. Ranier Castillo singled and later scored when Devin Dirkx delivered an RBI single, putting the Raiders ahead 1-0.

Cornerstone later tied the game in the second inning with a solo home run, bringing the score to 1-1.

In the sixth inning, the Raiders regained the lead. Castillo walked and advanced to third on a double by Grant Rychnovsky. Dirkx then singled to bring home both runners, putting Northwestern ahead 3-1. The Golden Eagles responded with another solo home run in the bottom half, making it 3-2.
