Second-Half Goal Gives Raiders Point in Standings

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Jovany Kabongo scored in the second half to even the score and end the regular season with a 2-2 draw.

The Raiders generated early pressure, with Daniel Lindahl taking a shot before Juan Miranda's corner kick set up Conal Shields for the opening goal at 5:05 and a 1-0 lead. The chances continued with two more Miranda corners and a Jovany Kabongo shot saved by Dordt, while the Defenders recorded a blocked attempt and a shot saved by Edoardo Alessandrini. The Red Raiders pushed again after the 30-minute mark, earning three corners in less than a minute and getting attempts from Diego Quintero and Miranda, and the half ended with the Raiders still ahead 1-0.

The Defenders scored nearly right away in the second half, tying the match at 1-1. Dordt kept pressure on the Red Raiders with multiple chances, but Alessandrini made saves, while Tito Linares put a shot off the crossbar at 56:07. Dordt took a 2-1 lead at 65:34, but the Red Raiders answered at 69:31 when Kabongo scored from a deflection off of Bram Zwinkels to even the score at 2-2. The Raiders earned a late corner and the Defenders had two attempts in the final 12 minutes, but neither side scored again as the match finished 2-2.
