Raiders Absorb Loss in Home Opener

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern fell to Bellevue with a 2-0 home loss at the NWC Soccer Complex on Saturday as the Raiders opened their season in front of their home crowd.

The first half between the Raiders and Bruins ended with the visitors leading 1-0. The scoring opened with a goal by Bellevue's Lily Humes in the 15th minute, assisted by Mia Hurt. The half saw frequent fouls from both sides, with a yellow cards issued on each team.

The second half began with Bellevue maintaining offensive pressure, as Aileen Perez took two early shots, missing wide on both occasions. The Bruins' persistence paid off when Perez scored a goal in the 68th minute, assisted by Sam Mausbach for her first of the year. The Red Raiders attempted to respond but were caught offside shortly after the goal. Aliza Edwards had two attempts for Northwestern, with a shot wide left and another saved in a one-on-one attempt.
