The game between the Red Raiders and the Warriors opened with both teams going scoreless through the first four innings. Northwestern managed their first hit in the bottom of the first, but neither team was able to capitalize on early opportunities, with the defenses holding strong. In the fifth inning, the Raiders broke the scoreless tie as
TJ Silliman pinch ran and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Luke Wroblewski, giving the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Midland responded in the sixth inning with a two-run homer, putting them ahead 2-1. Northwestern was unable to rally in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings despite a leadoff double by
Bryce Click in the seventh.

The Raiders opened the game with a strong first inning, as
Luke Wroblewski,
Grant Rychnovsky, and
Devin Dirkx each contributed singles. Dirkx's hit drove in Wroblewski, giving Northwestern an early 1-0 lead. The Warriors were retired in order in the top of the first. In the second inning, Northwestern's offense excelled with a series of singles to load the bases before Dirkx delivered a home run to left center, extending the Raiders' lead to 5-0. Midland responded in the third inning scoring on a groundout. However, the Raiders maintained a comfortable 5-1 lead by the end of the third inning. Northwestern's pitching and defense continued to hold strong, preventing Midland from gaining any momentum.
