How It Happened
Bellevue (Neb.) defeated Northwestern with a final score of 8-2 in a game held on Tuesday in Tucson, Arizona.

In the first inning, both the Red Raiders and the Bruins each scored two runs. The Bruins opened the scoring with two in the top half, while the Red Raiders responded with a strong offensive push when Gwen Mikkelsen hit a two-run homer, bringing in Ashtyn Billings to tie the game at 2-2.

The second and third innings were marked by strong defense from both teams. Despite Maddie Kvatek reaching third base for the Raiders in the second inning, they were unable to capitalize and bring her home. The Bruins also struggled to convert runners on base into runs, keeping the score tied at 2-2.

In the fourth inning, the Bruins regained the lead on a sacrifice fly, putting the Bruins ahead 3-2. The Raiders had limited opportunities to respond, as solid defense from the Bruins kept them from scoring in the subsequent innings.

The game broke open in the seventh inning when the Bruins extended their lead significantly. After a series of hits, the Bruins hit a three-run homer, bringing the score to 8-2. The Raiders were unable to mount a comeback in the bottom of the inning, concluding the game with a final score of 8-2 in favor of the Bruins.
