Raiders Round Out Regular Season with Strong Saturday

Mitchell, SD - Northwestern headed to the GPAC Duals to compete against Midland, Concordia, and Hastings where they would finish strong with a 2-1 record on the day.

The Raiders started their Saturday off against #19 ranked Concordia where they would earn a couple wins but come up short in a 29-16 loss. Noah Parmelee would be the first to score a big win as he earned a decision victory 7-3. Kaleb Grove and Jaxson Hildebrand earned themselves wins as well, Grove with a 16-2 major decision.

It would be a bounce back dual for Northwestern against Hastings as they dominate the match 31-18 with multiple pins and two tech falls. Kane Butrick and Noah Parmelee earned back to back tech falls at 141 and 149 pounds. The final five weight classes would all be victory by fall but it would be the Raiders who take three of the five pins including one from Devin Padilla in 56 seconds.

Rounding out the day would be a dual shutout against Midland as the Raiders sweep the matches in the 50-0 win over the Warriors. Besides three forfeits, all but one wrestled match was a bonus point victory for Northwestern. This would include another pin from Devin Padilla and three more tech falls, one of which from Kane Butrick in only 47 seconds. 

Dual Notes
  • Noah Parmelee would go 3-0 on the day with a top 25 win
  • Raiders earn 12 bonus point victories to round out the season 7-3 in duals
  • Also undefeated on the day was Kaleb Grove with a 2-0 record with two bonus point wins
  • This would be the first winning regular season since '21-'22
