Sioux Center, IA - Northwestern has another 4-0 weekend picking up a Saturday sweep of two wins over Minnesota Crookston and Dakota State with 14 total runs.

How It Happened

The Golden Eagles took an early lead with a home run to right center. The Raiders responded as Charli Bomgaars advanced to third on a series of wild pitches and scored on a sacrifice ground out, tying the game at 1-1. In the second inning, the Red Raiders' offense was productive, scoring two runs to take a 3-1 lead. Sydney Jacobs and Berkley Johannsen set the stage with singles, and Cassidy Gors drove them both home with a single, marking the pivotal scoring moment of the game.

The third inning was quiet, with both teams failing to score. The defense maintained control, preventing any further scoring opportunities for the Golden Eagles. From the fourth inning onward, the Raiders' defense held firm, allowing no runs for the remainder of the game. The Golden Eagles were unable to generate any offense, and the Red Raiders secured the victory with a final score of 3-1, finishing with seven hits and no errors.

How It Happened

Northwestern started the game strong, putting five runs on the board in the first inning. The initial run advanced on a wild pitch and key plays set the stage for Tatum Schmalbeck and Jori Hajek to drive in runs with consecutive singles. Berkley Johannsen added two more runs with a double to center field, closing the inning with a 5-0 lead.

In the second inning, the Raiders extended their advantage, adding two more runs, pushing the score to 7-0. The Raiders continued to maintain pressure in the third inning. Cassidy Gors capitalized with a double to left field, bringing their lead to 8-0. Northwestern added two more runs in the fourth as two runners scored on a bunt single by Charli Bomgaars. Dakota State managed to score their first and only run in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Raiders' lead remained substantial at 10-1.

Game Notes
  • The offensive barrage was led by Jori Hajek and Sydney Jacobs who both get three hits and score two runs
  • Hajek also added 2 RBIs and a double on her statline, while Jacobs doubled twice
  • The Northwestern defense supported their pitcher earning 12 outs
