Regular Season Ends in Road Loss

SEWARD, Neb. – Northwestern put up 17 points in the second quarter, but it was not enough as Concordia erased the deficit to defeat the Raiders.

Northwestern began their opening drive at their own 25-yard line, but after a series of short completions and a holding penalty, were forced to punt. On the next play, Reid Hulshof recovered a fumble on Concordia's punt return, giving the Raiders the ball back at the Bulldogs' 36-yard line. Despite advancing to the Concordia 14-yard line, Northwestern's drive stalled, and they turned the ball over on downs on a fake field goal attempt.

The Bulldogs responded with a lengthy drive, moving efficiently downfield and capitalizing on a penalty to score the first touchdown of the game with 1:06 remaining in the period. The Raiders attempted to respond in the final minute, with Colby Duncan connecting on a 12-yard pass to Tanner Schouten, and the Raiders were driving as the quarter came to an end.

The second quarter began with Northwestern capitalizing on a roughing the passer penalty, advancing into Concordia's territory. Duncan efficiently led the charge, completing a pass to Carson Ness and rushing into the end zone on the next play to tie the game at 7-7. The Raiders' defense then forced a quick three-and-out, regaining possession. On the next drive, Duncan showcased his versatility with a mix of passing and rushing, culminating in a five-yard touchdown run. Bennett's extra point extended the lead. The Raiders' defense maintained pressure, leading to another Concordia punt. Bennett then converted from 35 yards out after the two minute timeout, extending the Raider lead to 17-7.

The third quarter began with Concordia advancing into Northwestern territory, but the defense held firm. Levi Egli and Ayden Klein contributed key stops, and Trystin Voss hurried the quarterback on third down, leading to a missed 31-yard field goal attempt by Peyton Atwood. Northwestern's subsequent drive was halted by a sack, and after trading possessions, the Bulldogs managed to break through with a touchdown pass from Gideon Stark to Jonny Puelz, followed by a successful extra point to come within three points.

Northwestern's attempts to regain momentum were thwarted by Concordia's defense, with Dylan Meyer recording multiple sacks. Despite efforts from the Red Raiders to advance, penalties and a determined Bulldogs defense kept the visitors from scoring in the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Northwestern began with possession but was forced to punt after a short completion was stopped on 3rd and 16. The Bulldogs capitalized on their ensuing drive, moving 63 yards down the field, culminating in an eight-yard rushing touchdown by Adam Van Cleave with 10:47 remaining, regaining the lead at 21-17.

Northwestern responded with a drive starting from their own five-yard line, highlighted by a 25-yard rush from Solomon Tea and multiple completions from Duncan. However, the drive stalled at the Bulldogs' 36-yard line after a false start penalty and an incomplete pass on fourth down.

As the clock wound down, the Raiders' defense managed to force a loss on Concordia's final drive, but the Bulldogs maintained possession, eventually running out the clock in victory formation.
