Northwestern to Compete in Inaugural GPAC Esports Championships

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern's esports teams are set to compete in the first-ever GPAC Esports Championships, presented by Gravity Gaming by ByteSpeed.

Over the next two weekends, the Red Raiders will head to two-day events at Morningside University for a chance to be crowned GPAC Champions in their respective game titles. Northwestern will send its Smash Brothers Ultimate team to Sioux City this weekend and Rocket League and Overwatch teams next weekend.

The event will consist of nearly 150 students from eight GPAC schools battling in a round robin format, followed by a single-elimination tournament to decide a winner. Winning teams will receive a trophy to commemorate their achievement.
