Red Raiders Add to 2024-25 Recruiting Class

ORANGE CITY, Iowa  – Northwestern College has announced the signings of 20 recruits for the 2024-25 academic year.

Cheer
Bella Muller (Audubon, Iowa) has signed with the Red Raider cheer program.

A student at Exira-EHK High School, Muller is a member of the National Honor Society and an honor roll student. She also has awards in weightlifting as the best female lifter in Nebraska and Iowa in 2023 and placed third at the 2022 USA Olympic Weightlifting Youth Nationals.

"I chose Northwestern so that I could continue my education while growing in my faith," Muller commented.

She is the daughter of Michael and Ilee Muller. Muller plans to study nursing at Northwestern.

Men's Cross Country/Track and Field
Landon Greve (Lake Park, Iowa) has announced his intention to join the Red Raider cross country and track and field teams.

A four-year student-athlete at Harris-Lake Park High School, Greve has personal bests of 18:41 in the 5K, 11:10 in the 3200m, and 5:04 in the 1600m. He is an all-conference runner, President of his National Honor Society chapter, and a four-time academic all-conference honoree.

"I ultimately decided on Northwestern College because so many figures I have witnessed demonstrating great leadership have held strong connections to Northwestern, along with an equally powerful relationship with their faith," Greve commented.

He is the son of Bret and Kathy Greve. Greve plans to study genetics and molecular biology at Northwestern.

Elias Jensen (Heron Lake, Minn.) has announced his intention to join the Red Raider track and field and football programs.

A multi-sport student-athlete at Windom Area High School, Jensen is a member of the National Honor Society.

"I chose Northwestern because being around the coaches and players made me feel welcome and excited to make Northwestern my new home," noted Jensen.

He is the son of Cale and Kia Jensen. Jensen plans to study elementary education at Northwestern.

Alik McIlravy (Polk City, Iowa) has announced his intention to attend Northwestern College and join the cross country and track and field teams.

An honor roll student at North Polk High School, McIlravy has a personal best of 15:58 in cross country and also runs the 3200m, 1600m, and 800m in track. He is a four-time First Team All-Racoon River Conference selection and was a state champion in the 4x800m relay.

"I chose Northwestern College because it is a second family who will support me both physically and spiritually," McIlravy said.

He is the son of Jason and Marisa McIlravy. McIlravy plans to study marketing at Northwestern.

Women's Cross Country/Track and Field
Nevaeh Graham (Council Bluffs, Iowa) has announced her intention to join the Northwestern track and field program.

Graham spent four seasons running sprints at Abraham Lincoln High School, also working two seasons as a manager for the boy's wrestling team. She holds a personal best of 14.7 in the 100m and 30.22 in the 200m and is an honor roll student.

"Northwestern made me feel at home before I even visited the campus," Graham said. "The coaches and advisors persistently encouraged me throughout finishing my high school education and made it very well-known to me that they wanted me to be a Raider!"

She is the daughter of Lisa and Michael Graham. Graham plans to study social work at Northwestern.

Rebecca Hofmann (Titonka, Iowa) has signed with the Red Raider cross country and track and field teams.

A four-year runner at North Iowa High School, Hofmann has personal bests of 20:29 in the cross country 5K and 2:23 in the 800m. In addition to being a member of the National Honor Society, she is a First Team All-Conference runner, a conference champion and school-record holder in the 800m, and a state qualifier in both cross country and track.

"I chose Northwestern because I felt like it was a place where I could grow my faith, as well as grow in my athletic and academic career."

She is the daughter of Mike and Susan Hofmann. Hofmann plans to study nursing at Northwestern.

Macy Schroeder (Pella, Iowa) has announced her intention to attend Northwestern and join the cross country and track and field teams.

Running in cross country and mid-distance races, Schroeder has a 5K personal best of 20:08, with an 800m time of 2:26 and a 400m time of 60 seconds. She is a two-time state cross country team champion, a two-time top-50 state cross country placer, and a three-time state track qualifier. In the classroom, Schroeder is a member of the National Honor Society and is an honor roll student.

"I chose Northwestern College because I fell in love with the Christian atmosphere and the beautiful campus," Schroeder said. "The coaching staff and others on campus were welcoming and made me feel right at home!"

She is the daughter of Jason and Raelynn Schroeder. Schroeder plans to study nursing or health sciences at Northwestern.

Kendra Zeutenhorst (Sioux Center, Iowa) has announced her intention to continue her cross country and track and field career at Northwestern.

A multi-sport athlete at Sioux Center High School, Zeutenhorst is a two-time state cross country qualifier, two-time state track and field relays qualifier, and a four-time All-Siouxland Conference runner. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.

"I chose Northwestern because the campus gave me a great amount of peace with its Christ-centered atmosphere," Zeutenhorst commented. "I am looking forward to all the new experiences and opportunities this choice offers, as well as the chance to create relationships along the way."

She is the daughter of Gary and Kim Zeutenhorst. Zeutenhorst plans to study social work at Northwestern. She will join her sister, Ellie, on the Red Raider cross country and track team.

Esports
Brooks Omel (Gretna, Neb.) has announced his intention to join the Northwestern Overwatch team.

A two-year player from Gretna High School, Omel has three state titles and was a runner-up at nationals.

"I was first interested because two of my teammates were already committed," Omel said. "After visiting, I saw that Northwestern was a very welcoming community that would be able to foster my growth as a teammate."

Omel is the son of Sarah and Tucker Omel. He plans to study political science at Northwestern.

Simon Maggert (Matlock, Iowa) has signed with Northwestern's Smash Brothers Ultimate team.

Prepping at Sheldon High School, Maggert plans to study theatre at Northwestern.

"I am very excited to join a team of very talented people, both on the stage and in esports," Maggert said.

Maggert is the son of Ann and Scott.

Jackson Selfridge (Gretna, Neb.) has announced his intention to join the Northwestern Smash Brothers Ultimate team.

A three-year player from Gretna High School, Selfridge placed third in Smash solos in 2022-23, also notching a sixth-place doubles finish in the same season.

"I chose Northwestern College not only because of the community, but also because of the chance to grow in faith as I learn in my classes and compete in sports," Selfridge commented.

He is the son of Megan and Michael Meyer and Joshua and Jennifer Selfridge. Selfridge plans to study software engineering at Northwestern.

Carter Stutzman (Fairfield, Iowa) has announced his intention to join the Red Raider Rocket League team.

A three-year player from Fairfield High School, Stutzman was a 2022 state champion and 2023 state runner-up.

"I chose Northwestern because everyone made me feel welcomed on my overnight visit," Stutzman said.

He is the son of Matthew and Amber Stutzman. Stutzman plans to study engineering or computer science at Northwestern.

Carson Topf (Sloan, Iowa) has announced his intention to attend Northwestern College and join the Rocket League team.

A multi-sport athlete at Westwood High School, Topf was a state participant in Rocket League during his high school career.

"I chose Northwestern because the students and faculty welcomed me in like it was home," Topf said.

He is the son of Karie Dean and Matt Topf. Topf plans to study accounting at Northwestern.

Men's Soccer
Nino Berger (Lyss, Bern, Switzerland) has announced his intention to attend Northwestern College and join the men's soccer program.

A defender on SV Lyss, Berger's team placed first in the most recent season.

"I chose Northwestern because of the soccer team, the academic possibilities, the look of the school, and the conversation with coach Dan Swier."

He is the son of Andrea Berger and Remo Casati. Berger plans to study management, finance, and/or economics at Northwestern.

Women's Soccer
Kylie Baccam (Little Elm, Texas) has committed to Northwestern College and will join the Red Raider women's soccer team.

In 2023, Baccam led the Dallas HSAA with 50 goals scored and was the 2022-23 HSAA Offensive Player of the Year. In three seasons, she scored 114 goals and is a four-time High School Homeschool 11v11 national champion. In 2023-24, Baccam was named the HSAA Most Valuable Player.

"Northwestern College provides an excellent education in a Christian environment," Baccam stated. "I chose Northwestern so I could be a part of the Christian community, academically and on the soccer field."

She is the daughter of Syla and Tanya Baccam. Baccam plans to study pre-dental at Northwestern. She will join her sister, Avril, on the Red Raider women's soccer team.

Anna Hummel (Orange City, Iowa) has announced her intention to attend Northwestern College and join the women's soccer program.

A four-year soccer player at MOC-Floyd Valley High School, Hummel has started 53 games in her career and was a First Team All-Conference selection in 2022 and 2023.

"I chose Northwestern because of how welcoming everyone there was, and I loved the women's soccer team environment," noted Hummel.

She is the daughter of Patrick and Julie Hummel. Hummel plans to study exercise science and business at Northwestern. She will join her sisters, Sarah and Cate, on the Red Raider women's soccer team.

Volleyball
Bryn Higginbotham (Pella, Iowa) has committed to join Northwestern's volleyball program this fall.

A three-year student-athlete at Pella High School, Higginbotham is a two-time all-conference selection, has 248 career kills, and 42 service aces.

"I chose Northwestern because it felt like home," noted Higginbotham. "I loved how friendly everyone was and how they made me feel so welcome. It felt like a great place to continue my academic and athletic careers, and further my faith."

She is the daughter of Greg and Kim Higginbotham. Higginbotham plans to study elementary education at Northwestern.

Wrestling
Kane Butrick (Fort Dodge, Iowa) has signed on to join Northwestern's wrestling team.

A three-year student-athlete at Fort Dodge High School, Butrick is a two-time state qualifier, collecting 88 career wins.

"Northwestern seemed like a great place to call home," Burtrick said. "The coaches were definitely one of the main reasons why I made my decision as I don't think you could find nicer people to call your coaches."

Kaleb Grove (Weiser, Idaho) has announced his intention to attend Northwestern College and join the wrestling and football programs.

A four-year athlete in football, wrestling, and baseball, Grove went 124-22 in his wrestling career and is an honor roll student.

"The atmosphere at Northwestern is unparalleled," Grove said. "I felt very welcome and felt like I fit in great."

He is the son of Mike and Laurelle Jones. Grove plans to study ag business at Northwestern.

Carter Peterson (Alton, Iowa) has signed with the Red Raider wrestling program.

A three-year student-athlete at MOC-Floyd Valley, Peterson went 21-9 last season, collecting 61 career wins. He also earned the team's most improved wrestler award and was a team captain.

"The coaches at Northwestern care about me, and the guys on the team are all great and have made me feel like part of the team already," Peterson commented.

He is the son of Matt and Tami Peterson. Peterson plans to study physical education at Northwestern.
