Raiders Earn Win in Final Game of Series

FREMONT, Neb. – Northwestern came back to win in the final game of a four-game set with Midland on Saturday, splitting today's doubleheader.

GAME 1: MID 3, NWC 2
Pitching Decisions
Win: L. Hamzeh (3-2)
Loss: Drew Dykstra (4-4)
Save: D. Blasingan (6)

How It Happened
The long ball was a key factor as three solo homers were hit between the two teams in a one-run Midland win.

After a Midland home run put the home squad up 1-0 in the second, Bryce Click tied the game with a solo shot of his own in the fourth, his second of the season.

It continued to be a back-and-forth contest as a Warrior RBI double put Midland ahead again in the fifth.

The Raiders answered again in the sixth, using small ball to bring Ethan Buckner home on a sacrifice fly for Click's second RBI of the day.

Tied heading into the final innings, Midland grabbed the lead for good on a one-out home run, which ended up as the game-winner.

Game Notes:
GAME 2: NWC 14, MID 6

Midland was aggressive in the opening frame, putting up five runs to grab a significant advantage.

The Raiders were powered back into the game by Sam Stanford, who hit a three-run home run in the third to cut the deficit to two, Stanford's fifth round-tripper this season.

Trailing by two in the fourth, Northwestern put up six runs to open up a 9-5 lead. The Raiders sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring all of their runs with two outs. After tying it at 5-5, Luke Wroblewski's at-bat resulted in two runs on an RBI single. In the next appearance, Stanford kept his effective day going with an RBI single before Mo Watson drove in the sixth run of the inning on a base hit.

The Raiders extended their lead to 11-5 in the seventh on two runs and three hits, highlighted by an RBI double from Drew Dykstra. Dykstra kept it up again in the eighth, driving in two on a base hit.
