Raiders Drop Offensive Shootout in Season Finale

Orange City, IA - Four first half goals wouldn't be enough for the Raiders as Northwestern falls to Dordt 6-5 in a shootout in their season finale.

The Defenders put pressure on the Raiders early but it wouldn't lead to any scoring until Grace Timm found the goal in the ninth minute to take the early lead. Two minutes later Marissa Talamantes scored her third goal of the season to extend the lead to 2-0. Karina Tel is one of the best players in NAIA for a reason as she scores her 28th and 29th goals of the season to tie this one up in the 18th and 21th minutes. The Baccam sister duo would strike next as Kylie Baccam picked up her second assist of the day to her sister Avril Baccam, who knocks in a long goal to retake the lead in the first half. 

Unfortunately for the Raiders, their four goal first half would be undone by Dordt who score four goals of their own in the second half. Karina Tel and Hayden Jennett would both score two goals a piece to put the Defenders up 6-4 in the 80th minute. Northwestern would get a spark on offense seconds later as Kylie Baccam keeps it herself this time for her eighth goal of the year to make it 6-5 until the buzzer.
