Raiders Grab Senior Night Victory

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Northwestern men's soccer team scored early and often to send their seniors off with a 6-1 win over the Doane Tigers on Saturday night.

On a fastbreak play a mere nine minutes in, Gonzalo Domingo crossed the ball into the box, looking for Alex Ruiz when Doane inadvertently found the ball in the right corner, giving Northwestern a 1-0 advantage. The Raiders added on to their lead minutes later when Pol Foix found Stan van den Beld for his first of two goals on the night. Northwestern added another later in the half, as Drew Darnold took a deflection off the keeper and knocked in his fourth goal of the season, giving the Raiders a 3-0 lead heading into the break.

Northwestern scored just as many times in the second, first off the foot of van den Beld for his second of the night. Alex Ruiz joined the party at 51', scoring for the seventh time this season. The win marked the Raiders' sixth of the year and their ninth consecutive against Doane.
