Northwestern Earns Two Wins at GPAC Duals

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Northwestern wrestling team (5-12, 2-6 GPAC) bounced back from a morning loss to (RV) Concordia, winning their final two duals of the weekend against Hastings and Midland as part of the second day of the 2023-24 GPAC Duals.

DUAL 1 VS. CONCORDIA
The Raiders opened the day facing (RV) Concordia (Neb.), falling 33-11. Northwestern collected three wins, as Johnny Burnette opened with a 12-5 decision over Grant Wells to put three points on the board. Luke Jenness then recorded his second win of the weekend with a 5-2 sudden victory over Hunter Weimer. Next, at 197 and in his first outing of the weekend, Kaleb Lind won with a dominant 15-0 technical fall, his sixth such win of the year.

DUAL 2 VS. HASTINGS
Northwestern improved to 1-1 on the day with a 33-16 win over Hastings in their second dual. Johnny Burnette started the scoring for the Raiders with his second win of the day, winning by fall in the first period, before Noah Parmelee also pinned his opponent in the first period to give Northwestern a 12-3 advantage. John Seth was a winner by decision at 149, while Devin Padilla pinned his second opponent in as many days, one of four Raider pins in the dual. After Northwestern took an open weight win, Kaleb Lind won by fall to secure the victory.

DUAL 3 VS. MIDLAND
The Raiders put together a dominant performance in their final dual of the day, defeating Midland 46-3. Logan Schroeder and Trey Schuck won by fall, while Northwestern also took an open weight to take an early 18-0 lead. Jake Francksen-Small was the next Raider to wrestle at 184, winning a 16-1 technical fall before Kaleb Lind had another 15-0 technical fall to close the weekend with his third win.

Up Next: Northwestern will host the Raider Duals next Saturday, February 3 in the Bultman Center. Wrestling begins at 10:00 a.m. against Dickinson State (N.D.).
