Raiders Pin Three in Final Home Dual

Jenness wins 20th match in return to the mat

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The (RV) Northwestern wrestling team (6-7, 4-4 GPAC) was dominant in their final dual of the season, defeating the (RV) Waldorf Warriors (0-6, 0-4 Heart), 40-10, in nonconference action, Friday night in the Bultman Center.

Johnny Burnette (Fr., Spirit Lake, Iowa) pushed the Raiders out in front early on, earning his fourth-career fall to put Northwestern up 12-4 before Brody Hoversten (Fr., Alden, Iowa) pinned his man at 157 to give Northwestern an 18-7 advantage in front of the home crowd.

The Raiders were relentless in the final three matches of the night, as Jake Francksen-Small (So., Merrill, Iowa) started with a 16-0 technical fall ahead of the fifth pin of the year for Luke Jenness (Sr., Primghar, Iowa). The win marked Jenness's 20th of the year and 95th for his career.

Kaleb Lind (So., Lindenhurst, Ill.) then closed out the dual with an 18-0 technical fall victory at 197 pounds, as he now paces the team with 21 wins overall.

"I'm proud of the way the guys attacked the scoring positions all night long," noted head coach Rik Dahl. We need to fix some things with the lighter weights, but the attack was there. I loved seeing Brody and Johnny wrestle through to get pins, and it was good to see Jake, Luke, and Kaleb go out there and dominate their opponents. It was a good final dual to have at home and we hope to use it as a springboard moving forward."

Up Next: Northwestern is set to close out the regular season tomorrow at the Sioux City Open, held at Morningside's Hindman Hobbs Center.
