Raider Wrestling Drops Road Battle at Briar Cliff

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – (RV) Northwestern (2-4, 1-2 GPAC) returned to the mat for their first team dual since November, but (RV) Briar Cliff (1-2, 1-2 GPAC) spoiled the road trip, winning Wednesday's matchup 30-12 in the Newman Flanagan Center.

The Chargers took the first three bouts, earning 24 match points and a pin to go up 14-0. The Raiders got on the board in the 149 match, as Noah Parmelee (Fr., Sergeant Bluff, Iowa) won a low-scoring battle, 4-2 in overtime.

Northwestern gained six additional points in a forfeit at 174 before Luke Jenness (Sr., Primghar, Iowa) barely missed out on a major decision, winning 9-3, his 15th win of the season.

"It was a tough dual tonight, strong performances and some close calls," said head coach Rik Dahl. "We wrestled hard in the first three weights, just a few simple things that we will clean up. Parmelee gave us a much-needed spark and two freshmen in Brody and Cole were asked to step up and battled. Luke picked up another gritty win at 184. Now it's on to practice tomorrow in preparation for two tough duals Friday night."

Up Next: Northwestern is set to continue their duals schedule this week, traveling to Jamestown, North Dakota for matches with Jamestown and Dickinson State (N.D.). Bouts will start at 4:30 and 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13.
