Career Day Lands Fryar GPAC Player of the Week Accolades

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – A pre-game rain shower in Jamestown, N.D. didn't slow down Northwestern College senior quarterback Blake Fryar, as he notched a new career-high five touchdown passes against the Jimmies, landing him Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Offensive Player of the Week honors, the league office announced this morning.

Fryar (Sr., Waukee, Iowa) was calm, cool and collected on the overcast day in North Dakota Saturday afternoon, as he dissected the Jimmie secondary in the 48-3 rout. He was efficient, completing 77 percent of his throws - 23-of-30 passes. Though his total yardage was just 213 yards, he was in total control the entire game. He found the end zone five times through the air, as four different Raiders brought down touchdown grabs.

Ironically, one of the touchdown passes was a brother-to-brother connection just before the halftime break. The Raiders lined up for the 30+-yard field goal attempt, but a fake was called and Parker Fryar (So., Waukee, Iowa) was left completely alone streaking for the end zone, and Blake did not miss the once in a lifetime opportunity.

On the season, Fryar has been extremely efficient and has commanded the Red Raider offense phenomenally. He has a quarterback rating just under 200 (191.33) and has completed 70.5 percent of his passes (55-for-78). In the three games on the year, he has thrown for 729 yards and 10 touchdowns. His longest completion is 82 yards with the shovel pass completion to Kole Telford (So., Rock Rapids, Iowa), who took it to the house against Dakota Wesleyan in the home-opener.

The weekly honor is the first for the Red Raiders early in the 2022 campaign.
