Northwestern Falls at Briar Cliff Saturday Afternoon

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Northwestern College women's soccer team (4-4-0, 0-2-0 GPAC) fell on the road at (RV) Briar Cliff University (4-1-1, 2-0-0 GPAC) Saturday afternoon at Faber Field in Sioux City.

The match was scoreless until the 33rd minute when the Chargers leading goal scorer Mady Soumare found the back of the net. Briar Cliff would net two more in the 38th and 41st minute to take the 3-0 lead into the halftime break.
 
Two more goals in the 51st and 56th minute out of the break would extend the Briar Cliff lead to 5-0 early in the second half. That's where the scoring would end, as the Red Raiders would be unable to find the back of the net, dropping the match 5-0.
 
MATCH NOTES:
  • BCU put up 22 shots to NWC's three.
  • 17 shots on goal for BCU.
  • The Chargers had six corner kicks, Northwestern had one.
  • Kaelin Alons recorded 12 saves in the effort.
 
Up Next: Northwestern will continue their road trip, heading back to Sioux City on Wednesday, September 21 to clash with the Mustangs of Morningside University (2-4-0, 0-2-0 GPAC).
