Northwestern to Finish Regular Season in Nebraska

Raiders and Broncos set to meet at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The regular season comes to a close this weekend as the No. 3-ranked Northwestern College football team (8-1, 8-1 GPAC) hits the road with their eight-game winning streak for Nebraska to battle the Broncos of Hastings College at Lloyd Wilson Field.

RAIDERS WRAP UP THE REGULAR SEASON
  • The ranked No. 3 Red Raiders hit the road for the final regular season game, heading to Hastings, Neb. to battle the Hastings College Broncos.
  • NWC looks for their 16th-straight win over Hastings on Saturday, and their 25th all-time win over the Broncos.
  • Northwestern looks to spoil Hastings' perfect 4-0 mark at home this season.
  • In the current eight-game win streak, the Raiders have held opponents to 10 points or less in each contest.
NWC NOTABLES
  • Northwestern has outscored opponents 397-85 in their nine games.
  • The Raiders are now just one of three NAIA teams to average north of 200 yards in both passing and rushing per game.
  • In the month of November under head coach Matt McCarty the Red Raiders are 13-8, including a 4-4 mark in NAIA Football Championship Series (FCS) games.
  • NWC is 60-2 since 2010 when the team rushes for 200+ yards.
  • The Red Raiders hold a +10-turnover margin through nine games.
  • NWC continues to lead the NAIA in 3rd down conversions (58%).
  • When forcing 2+ opponent turnovers, NWC is 36-4 since 2017 and 5-1 on the season.
EGLI TABBED GPAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
  • Freshman Ben Egli was tabbed the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Defensive Player of the Week.
  • He led the team with nine tackles (six solo) in the 42-10 win over No. 15-ranked Midland.
  • The nine tackles set a new career-high, breaking his previous set on his first-career start at Doane with five (Oct. 22).
  • The Fort Dodge, Iowa native had a 31-yard pick-six, bringing his INT total to three on the year, which now leads the team.
  • He's the first Red Raider to garner Defensive POW honors this season, and the third overall – joining Jalyn Gramstad and Blake Fryar.
MOSER REACHES 200 CAREER RECEPTIONS
  • With his five receptions against the Warriors last week, senior Cade Moser notched his 200th career reception as a Red Raider.  
  • He has recorded back-to-back 100-yard games, and sits second in program history in career receiving yards (3,645 yards).
  • He needs eight touchdown receptions to tie Shane Solberg and his program record of 49 career touchdown receptions, nine to break the record.  
RECAPPING MIDLAND
  • Northwestern had no problems with No. 15-ranked Midland last week, downing the Warriors 42-10 in front of the home crowd.
  • NWC jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead and never looked back.
LAST MEETING VS. HASTINGS
  • NWC downed Hastings in Orange City, 45-13, on September 4, 2021.
  • The Raiders held the Broncos scoreless for the first three quarters, jumping out to a 42-0 lead in that time.
  • Blake Fryar threw for just shy of 300 yards (293) on 17-for-24 with four touchdown tosses.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Raiders lead the all-time series over Hastings 24-10, dating back to the 1986 season.
  • Northwestern has won 15-straight in the series, and holds a 14-5 mark in Hastings.
  • Matt McCarty holds a perfect 6-0 record against the Broncos in his time as the head coach at Northwestern.
