BATTLE FOR SIOUX COUNTY
  • The No. 4-ranked Red Raiders come off their bye week to battle arch-rival Dordt University in Sioux Center.
  • NWC and Dordt are meeting for the 15th time and the eighth time in Sioux Center.
  • With games played in Sioux Center, the Raiders have outscored Dordt 377-110.
  • The Raiders have scored more points in the last three meetings at Open Space Park than Dordt has against NWC on their home turf in all eight games.
NWC NOTABLES
  • NWC remains at No. 4 for the fourth-straight week in the NAIA; bringing the streak up to 19 polls.
  • The Raiders are one of six NAIA teams to average north of 200 yards in both passing and rushing per game.
  • Northwestern's high-powered offense is averaging 502.0 yards per contest, just one of two NAIA offenses to average 500+ yards per game.
  • Northwestern is 20-3 under Matt McCarty in the month of October and undefeated since 2019 (12-0).
  • Dordt is one of four GPAC foes that McCarty has never lost to in his time leading the Northwestern football program.
  • Northwestern has outscored opponents 217-58 in their first five games; really turning it on in the second half (105-18).
  • NWC is 57-2 since 2010 when the team rushes for 200+ yards.
  • The Red Raiders hold a +5-turnover margin through five games.
  • NWC is third in the NAIA in 3rd down conversions (56%).
  • Blake Fryar remains two touchdown passes away from cracking the program's top-10 career touchdown list and tying Galen Kaemingk (1975-79) who threw for 40 career touchdowns.
OFF THE BYE WEEK SUCCESS
  • Since 2015, Northwestern is 6-1 coming off their bye week, outscoring opponents 306-122 in those seven games.
  • Twice, Northwestern has played Dordt following the bye week (2019 & 2016), outscoring the Defenders 99-22 in those games.
  • In 2017 the Raiders bye week was the final week of the regular season and they then rolled over Langston (Okla.) 55-17 in the First Round of the NAIA Football Championship Series (FCS).
RECAPPING MOUNT MARTY
  • Jalyn Gramstad made his first-career start, setting two new career-highs – passing yards (238) and passing touchdowns (3).
  • NWC had two 100-yard rushers in Konner McQuillan (107) and Gramstad (105).
  • Michael Storey had nine grabs for 139 yards, his seventh-career 100-yard receiving game.
  • Junior kicker Eli Stader hit a career-long 50-yard field goal, just a yard shy of the program record of 51 yards.
  • Parker Fryar led the defense with nine tackles, also recording 1.5 sacks and forcing a fumble.
LAST MEETING VS. DORDT
  • The Raiders erupted for 528 yards of total offense in the 63-28 blowout of the Defenders in Orange City.
  • Tyson Kooima was a perfect 13-for-13 through the air for 283 yards and six touchdowns, with a touchdown strike of 83 yards to Konner McQuillan.
  • McQuillan notched 130 rushing yards on 21 attempts for the Red Raiders, punching it in for two scores. He also led the team in receiving yards with 97 yards on two receptions.
  • Blake Anderson was also a few yards shy of 100 receiving yards with 94 yards on five receptions.
  • Parker Fryar led the defense with 13 tackles (seven solo) and 1.5 tackles for loss, while Jalyn Gramstad – playing the defensive side of the ball last season – had an interception.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Red Raiders and the Defenders are meeting for the 15th time on Saturday as Dordt started a football program in 2008.
  • Northwestern has never lost to the Defenders (14-0), including 8-0 in Sioux Center.
  • Under McCarty, NWC is 6-0 against Dordt.
