YORK, Neb. – The (RV) Northwestern College men's soccer team (4-1, 0-0 GPAC) get back to their winning ways after shutting out the York College Panthers (1-3, 0-0 KCAC) 1-0 on the road this evening.
The first half saw the Panther offense on the attacking third quite a bit as they managed to get off five first half shots to Northwestern's one. Of the five York shots, three found the arms of junior goalkeeper
Ezekiel Foltz (Sioux Center, Iowa/Sioux Center).
Northwestern's attack turned it on in the second half, taking four shots in the half after only mustering the one shot in the first 45 minutes of play. The team's leading scorer,
Juan Mackrey (Sr., Balcare, Argentina/Colegio Santa Rosa De Lima) picked up this fourth goal of the season in the 70' minute which proved to be the game-winning score.
It was the Panthers that kept the pressure on the Raider defense, as Northwestern was out-shot 9-5 on the match but York could never put one in the net. Foltz notched five saves and improved his record in goal to 4-1 on the season. The Raiders had seven corner kick opportunities on the match to York's three.
