OMAHA, Neb. -- The Northwestern College women's soccer team lost their Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) opener to College of Saint Mary (CSM) to drop to 3-4-0 (GPAC, 0-1) on the season.
The match against the Flames had early action with a
Julie Dunlap (Jr., Des Moines/Iowa Dowling Catholic) goal in the ninth minute. CSM took control of the match and scored two goals within seven minutes of each other. Sarah Murphy scored in the 16th minute and Abbey Wilson scored in the 23rd minute to put the Flames ahead going into the half. The Raiders took control in the second half and
Katie Jacob (Jr., Zimmerman, Minn/Zimmerman) scored off of an assist by
Abby Noonan (So., Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle). A late game corner appeared to be another offensive chance for the Raiders but a counter-attack from the Flames proved to be the deciding play ending with a goal by Katie Harold.
The Raiders were out shot for the game 18-10. The Flames were able to get an impressive 11 shots on goal while the Raider attack was able to get seven of their shots on goal.
Kaelin Alons (Jr., Orange City, Iowa/Unity Christian) finished the game with an impressive eight saves. Her record in the net is now 3-4-0 (GPAC, 0-1) on the season.
Up Next: The Raiders will return home to the NWC Soccer Complex to take on the Briar Cliff University Chargers for their homecoming match with kickoff set for 5 p.m.
