Kameryn Etherington pitched a no-hitter in game one while also picking up the win in game two in leading Northwestern to a doubleheader sweep against Briar Cliff today in a GPAC softball doubleheader played today in Orange City.
Northwestern has won three straight games and improved to 4-2 in the conference, 17-7 overall.
Etherington's masterpiece in game one was the 13th no-hitter thrown in program history; the freshman's teammate,
Samantha Ubben, was the last to throw a no-hitter (vs Presentation in 2020). Etherington struck out a career-best 11, did not walk a batter and allowed only one BCU hitter to reach base off a Raider error.
Game One: 6-0 win
- Scoring Plays:
- Northwestern scored the first run on a sacrifice fly by Jennifer Boeve, scoring Emily Bosch, in the bottom of the third
- the Raiders plated two more in the fifth; singles by Bosch and Boeve combined with a BCU error led to the first run of the inning; another Chargers miscue on a ball hit by Etherington scored Boeve to give Northwestern a 3-0 lead
- Jordyn Kramer and Megan Nichols hit back-to-back singles to start the sixth inning; Kramer later scored on a wild pitch

- Emily Bosch went 2-for-4 with two runs scored as the leadoff hitter

- 1st inning - Bosch led off with a single, advanced to second after a bunt by Jessica Mouw and scored on an error by the Chargers
- 3rd inning - Briar Cliff tied the game on a leadoff single from Josie Chronic who scored on an RBI single by Alexis Westercamp
- 3rd inning - Northwestern went ahead for good with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third
- Bosch hit a one - out double, Mouw walked and both came around to score on a two-out single by Erika McKenney
- 5th inning - Etherington hit a two-run single, scoring Mouw and Alayna Bakke
- 7th inning - Westercamp completed the scoring with a solo home run, her ninth of the season
