David Ayala-Nieves (
Indio, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College in the fall.
Ayala-Nieves is a 5'10", 263-pound offensive / defensive lineman who played four years for the Palm Springs High School and Cathedral City High School football programs. Ayala-Nieves was named all-district and the team's most valuable defensive player two years. He accounted for 82 tackles, five quarterback sacks and three fumble recoveries last season.
"David is an explosive football player who has the ability to be a disruptive force along our defensive line," said Northwestern head coach
Matt McCarty. "We are excited to have David be part of our football program and look forward to watching him compete over the next four years."
Ayala-Nieves plans to study Sports Marketing and Management at Northwestern and is the son of Jurell and Michelle.
"I chose to attend Northwestern because of the opportunities that exist for me both in academics and athletics," said Ayala-Nieves. "Northwestern's athletic program is well rounded and has a strong winning tradition; I would love to be part of and continue that during my time as a Red Raider."
