Men's Soccer At Concordia This Weekend

Raiders go for their initial GPAC win

Game Time...The 2020 season continues for the Northwestern Men's soccer team as they head to Seward, Neb. this weekend for a match against Concordia. The conference match is set to start at 3:30pm. The Raiders are 0-1 in conference play, 2-1 overall; Concordia has won three straight and comes in with a 1-0 GPAC mark, 3-1 overall.

All-Time...Northwestern and Concordia have played at least once per year since the first match-up in 1995. Northwestern leads the all-time series 17-13-2 but is just 3-6-1 over the last 10 match-ups. Last year, the Raiders were defeated by Concordia 3-1.

Scouting Reports...

    Concordia Bulldogs: 1-0 (GPAC), 3-1 overall            Head Coach: Jason Weides (13th year)


Following a 3-1 loss to Bellevue in its season opener on Sept. 9, Concordia has rattled off three straight wins and outscored opponents 10-2. A 2-1 win over MidAmerica Nazarene was followed by a 4-0 win against Kansas Wesleyan and a 4-1 win against Dordt in its GPAC opener. Moises Jacobo netted a hat-trick against Dordt.

Weides owns the most wins in program history, guiding the Bulldogs to a 117-89-24 in his 13 seasons on the sideline. The former letterwinner has led his alma-mater to nine straight 10+ win seasons, including a 10-6-2 mark last year. Six starters return from last year's team that finished sixth in the GPAC with a 5-4-2 record.

The Raiders lost its first match of the season nearly one week ago, falling on the road to Briar Cliff 5-2 on Sept. 19 in Sioux City. James Bolger and Jacey McFaddin scored the goals for Coach Swier's squad and Ezekiel Foltz totaled seven saves.
