Raiders Drop Rematch With Briar Cliff

Julie Dunlap scored the Raiders goal in the second frame

Northwestern lost to Briar Cliff 5-1 in a rematch from a game played earlier this season. Today's contest was a conference match-up and played this afternoon in Sioux City.

The teams played to a double overtime, 0-0 draw just nine days ago and the scoring drought continued for nearly the first 20 minutes of today's match. The host Chargers broke the scoreless game with a goal by Ariana Rodriguez off an assist from Gemma White at the 19:23 mark. Three minutes later, Briar Cliff scored again on a goal from Gisselle Jimenez for a 2-0 lead. The Chargers broke the game open by scoring three goals during the final 10 minutes of the first half, two by Flor Suarez and one from Gabi Rosa, to take a 5-0 lead at halftime.

The Raiders scored the lone goal during the final half when Julie Dunlap put one in the back of the net off a pass from Emily Hurley

Northwestern totaled three shots on goal, on each by Dunlap, Emily Schmidt and Katie Jacob. Kaelin Alons had three saves and April Van Tol contributed two.

Ruby Campa, the Chargers goalkeeper, stopped two Raider shots and earned the win.
