Softball Closes Week With Split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Northwestern College softball team went 1-1 on Saturday, earning a 10-2 win against Occidental College (Calif.) and losing to Aquinas (Mich.) 7-6. The Red Raiders are 13-5 this season.

Game Two: 7-6 loss to Aquinas

Aquinas scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn a come-from-behind win over Northwestern, 7-6. The Red Raiders had runners at first and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh before Saints pitcher, Kate Fessenden, got the final two outs to prevent the runs from scoring. 

Both teams had 10 hits; Northwestern was led by Jennifer Boeve (2/4) and Jordyn Kramer (2/4). Six other Red Raiders had one hit each.

Emma Schnell pitched the first 4.2 innings, giving up seven hits, five earned runs while striking out four. Sydnee Isom (L) pitched the final 2.1 innings. 

Down 5-3, Northwestern went ahead after a three-run sixth inning. Alyana Bakke led off with a single, advanced  to second following a single from Camryn Cleveringa. Both players came around to score off an error on a ball hit by Jessica Harald.
