Megan Nichols (
Onawa, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Northwestern College.
Nichols is a 5'8" infielder / pitcher who has played four years for the West Monona High School softball team heading into her final season this summer. Nichols received first team all-conference recognition after hitting .484 with 12 RBIs in leading her team to a 30-6 record as a junior. She posted a 3-1 record with 1.15 ERA, totaling 13 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched. Nichols was named all state as a sophomore, was an Omaha World Herald all-western Iowa pick two years and earned first team all-conference as a sophomore. She holds the school record for sacrifices in a career (23), sacrifice in a season (10) and fielding percentage (92%).
"I chose Northwestern because of the family-like atmosphere on campus," said Nichols. "I felt so at home on my visits and the coaches and faculty were very helpful."
Nichols is also a four-year letter winner and all-conference selection for the West Monona volleyball team. A member of the National Honor Society and Academic All-State team, Nichols plans to major in elementary education at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Clint.
