Game Time... The Northwestern College men's soccer team looks to push its win streak to a season-high three games when they head to Sioux City, Iowa, for a match-up against Morningside on Wednesday night. The match is set to start around 8pm. Northwestern currently sits in sixth place in the GPAC with a 4-3 record, 6-3 overall; Morningside is one of two conference teams that are still unbeaten in GPAC play at 4-0, 5-1 overall.Â

All-Time...This will be the 21st meeting between the two GPAC rivals with Northwestern holding a slight 10-9-1 advantage in the series. The teams first played in 2001 and last year, Morningside downed the Raiders 1-0 in overtime on a goal from Moritz Lusch during the 99th minute. Northwestern has dropped two straight and is 4-5-1 in their last 10 games against Morningside.

The Mustangs are one of two teams still unbeaten in conference play, joining Briar Cliff. They are 4-0 in the GPAC, 5-1 overall, and trail their fellow Sioux City rival by two games in the win column. Morningside's only loss was to Bellevue (3-2) on Oct. 21. They have wins over Mount Marty and Hastings since.Â
Also the head coach of the women's program, Maxon is in his 20th year in charge of the Morningside men's program. Named the GPAC Coach of Year in 2019, Maxon has led the Mustangs to back-to-back national tournaments, earning a first round victory last fall. He returns seven starters, 16 players, from last year's team that won the GPAC regular season with a 10-1 mark, 18-4 overall.Â
