Fryar To Play Football At Northwestern

Parker Fryar (Waukee, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College next fall.

Fryar is a 6'2", 200-pound linebacker and tight end who enjoyed an outstanding four-year career playing for Van Meter High School. Fryar ranked sixth in class 1A with a team-high 86.5 tackles in leading Van Meter to a state runner-up finish and 12-1 record. He earned first team all-state honors through both the Des Moines Register and the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association (IPSWA) as a senior. Offensively, Fryar totaled 12 catches for 236 yards and three touchdowns. He was named the District's most valuable player on defense and was a two-time all-district pick. Fryar completed his distinguished career with an invitation to play in the Shrine Bowl. A member of the National Honor Society and Academic All-State team, Fryar plans to major in Biology at Northwestern. He is the son of Matt and Bridget.

"Parker had an outstanding high school career," said Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. "He was a great leader, teammate and playmaker. Parker is athletic and we look for him to make an immediate impact on our defense. We are excited to have him join the Red Raider football team and Northwestern campus next fall."
