Briar Murphy (
La Mirada, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his wrestling career at Northwestern College in 2019-20.
Murphy is a three year letter winner for Sonora High School and was league champion his junior season and record eight pins his senior year. He was 12-3 his senior season and earned an overall record of 63-24 in high school. Murphy wrestled at the 160 pound weight class in high school and should transition to the 165 pound collegiate weight class well.
"Brian is the kind of young man we want to be a part of our program," commented head coach
Rik Dahl. "He is a hard worker with a strong work either and desire to compete. We feel Brian has a high ceiling and a passion for wrestling. We are excited to see what this next stage can bring for this young man!"
Murphy was a three-year Principal's Honor Roll member and is planning to major in Criminal Justice and minor in Entrepreneurship.
