Oostra To Run Track At Northwestern

Mitchell Oostra (Sioux Falls, S.D.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his track and field career at Northwestern College next fall.

13143Oostra has had a standout career in three sports at Sioux Falls Christian High School. The 6'2" sprinter was the state runner-up in the 400m and won the state title as part of the 4x400 relay last spring. As a sophomore, Oostra helped lead Sioux Falls Christian to the state championship and ran on the state champion distance medley. He has personal bests of 22.96 in the 200m, 50.26 in the 400m and 2:06 800m. Oostra is also a letter winner in basketball and soccer, earning first team all-state honors in soccer last fall. Oostra is an honor roll student and plans to major in biology at Northwestern. He is the son of Jon and Donelle.

"We are thrilled to have Mitchell join our Red Raider track and field team," said Northwestern head coach Scott Bahrke. "He is a very talented sprinter who is going to raise the bar for his teammates both at practice and meets. Mitchell is a natural leader who is going to bring out the best in everyone. He has great work ethic and will represent Northwestern well on and off the track."
