Vander Griend To Play Football At Northwestern

Ben Vander Griend (West Point, Neb.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College next fall.

Vander Griend is a 5'11", 175-pound wide receiver who played three years for the West Point-Beemer High School football team. Vander Griend accounted for 20 catches for 374 yards and four touchdowns while earning all-state honors as a senior. For his career, Vander Griend totaled 70 catches for 1,093 yards and 10 touchdowns. He received all-state recognition two years and was a three-time all-district selection. Vander Griend earned academic all-state honors and plans to major in Business Administration / Finance at Northwestern. He is the son of Harlyn and Terri.

"Ben is an excellent addition to our receiving corps," said Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. "He is an accomplished receiver who has been coached well throughout his high school career. We are excited to have Ben join our Red Raider football team and look forward to watching him grow under Coach Byker and Coach Davis."
