Gonier To Play Football At Northwestern

Cole Gonier (Kansas City, Mo.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College next fall.

13041Gonier is a 6'0", 205-pound linebacker who had a standout, four-year career playing for Park Hill High School. Gonier accounted a team-high 109 tackles, 17 for a loss, seven sacks and two forced fumbles in earning all-league honors as a senior. He helped lead his team to that state playoffs, finishing with a 5-5 record. Gonier totaled 201 tackles, 31 for a loss, nine sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception in his career. He plans to major in education at Northwestern and is the son of Joe and Annette.

"Cole is an excellent addition to our defense," commented Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. "He is a great playmaker who is always around the football. Cole is aggressive, physical and plays well in open space. It will be fun to watch Cole play in our defense over the next four years."
