The Raiders (9-10, 6-5 GPAC) fell to Briar Cliff University (12-5-1, 9-2 GPAC) Wednesday afternoon in the GPAC Quarterfinals, 3-2. The loss would end the season for the Raiders.
The scoring would start of in the 19th minute for the Chargers as Joao Pedro Lima would find a bouncing ball about 30 yards away from the goal and hit a half volley that would blaze past
James Warren. It was easily a candidate for goal of the year in the GPAC.
The Raiders would bounce back and would find good counter attacks for the next 15 minutes but the Chargers would end up extending the lead in the 34th minute. Harvey Jacob would play a great ball in the box and Sebastian Justiniano would head home the finish.
BCU would extend to the lead to 3-0 in the 40th minute off another backside cross, this time from Rodrigo Oliveria, and Marcus Horwood would tap in the finish.
The Raiders came out strong in the second half and were determined to get back into the match.
They would get the first goal back in the 66th minute as
Matthew Roll would hit home another free kick, his 3rd goal of the year.
The Raiders kept pushing and would eventually switch up tactics to continue to put pressure on the Chargers. The tatical change would put
Ben Hengst in more agressive spots on the field and he would find the back of the net for his second goal of the year.
Northwestern would continue to push and would create a few more great chances but could not push the ball over the goalline.
The Raiders end the year with a 9-10 record overall.
