Raiders Face Briar Cliff in GPAC Quarterfinals

Wednesday, November 6, 2019

The Red Raiders (9-9, 6-5 GPAC) travel to Sioux City, Iowa Wednesday afternoon to take on Briar Cliff University (11-5-1, 9-2 GPAC) in the GPAC Quarterfinals. Kickoff is at 2pm.

The Chargers beat the Raiders in the 2018 GPAC Quarterfinals 2-1 in overtime and the Raiders lost to BCU this year 1-0. Each match the Raiders have not been full strength with multiple starters out with either injury or illness.

Northwestern is coming off a 0-7 loss Saturday to Hastings College.

The Raiders have scored 33 goals while allowing 27. Jake Foscalina has lead the Raiders in the attack scoring 11 goals on the year. Anselmo Kim has added 7 goals and 3 assists for the Raiders.

James Warren has started all but two games for the Raiders and has made 48 saves and put together a 0.727 save percentage.

Briar Cliff is coming off a tough 2-3 loss in the final regular season match against Morningside. If the Chargers would have won that game, they would have won the GPAC Regular Season Championship.

Marcus Horwood has been strong in the attack for the Chargers scoring 11 goals and adding 7 assists. Rodigo Oliveria is another strong attacker from BCU and he has 10 goals and 6 assists on the year.

Alex Theobald and Dario Salzer have combined in net for 45 saves, 0.689 save percentage, and have only allowed 17 goals against.
