The Red Raiders drop to 0-2 in GPAC play after a 3-1 loss to the hands of Concorida University (Neb.) Saturday night.
The Bulldogs found the net early in the 11th minute off a free kick just outside the box where the ball played in bounced around a few players and found its way to Brynn Suddeth who put it by keeper
Macy Kuehler.
The Raiders would bounce back to even up the game in the 27th minute when
Paige Drenth found the ball off a corner in front of goal and bashed home the easy goal for her second on the year.
Sarah Homan was credited on the goal with an assist.
The even score would not last for long though as Maria Deeter scored 31 seconds later. The Bulldogs never let possession go after the kickoff and Deeter hit a shot from outside the box that Kuehler could not get to.
The Bulldogs would extend their lead in the 58th minute off a long ball that went off a Northwestern defender into the goal. Rebekah Freeman was credited with the goal.
"We have a ways to go to be able to compete for 90 minutes against some of the top teams in our conference," commented head coach
Ben Karnish. "The good thing is that we feel we can get to that level still this season and be able to maintain the higher level that we played at for the majority of the match. We know that you cannot have compounding mental errors against good teams and are working on fixing those day in and out."
The Raiders face Mount Marty College Wednesday at 5pm and look to get their first GPAC win.
