The Red Raiders finished off their California road tip with a rout of La Sierra University Saturday night, 9-0.
With the match locked in a scoreless tie, the Red Raiders scored three goals in a span of 4:22.
Tyler Limmer scored the first two goals in the 31st and 35th minute, while Brenno Fabbri made it 3-0 with a goal just 48 seconds after the previous goal. Northwestern extended the lead to 4-0 second before the halftime buzzer, and went into the half with a 4-0 advantage. The Red Raiders added five more goals in the second half of play, and cruised to victory.
Northwestern finished with a 20-3 advantage in total shots, including a 12-2 differential in shots on goal. Matt Scott and James Warren combined to shutout the Golden Eagles.
"The guys were dialed in tonight," commented head coach Dan Swier. "I was pleased with their execution of our game plan and for taking advantage of our opponents' weaknesses. It was a great way to end our trip to California. We are excited to begin conference play next week!"
The Raiders finish their non-conference schedule 4-3 and will look to host their first GPAC opponent Wednesday with the University of Jamestown coming to Orange City. Kickoff will be at 7:15pm.
