Red Raiders Host Doane For Senior Day

Game Time...(RV) Northwestern College plays host to Doane this weekend for Senior Day. First pitch of the GPAC doubleheader on Saturday, April 21 is scheduled for 1pm. Northwestern is tied with Morningside for first place in the current conference standings with a 9-3 record, 24-7 overall. Doane is in fourth place in the GPAC standings with a 7-5 record, 23-15 overall.

This marks one of the final home games for the seven seniors on this year's roster; Jensen Boger, Renee Choquette, Katie Elliiott, Amanda Everhart, Jessica Sandbulte, Kayla Tindall and Cheyenne Wilcke.

All-Time...Northwestern has lost four of five and eight of the last 10 games against Doane but still holds a 38-23 lead in the all-time series. The Red Raiders went 1-2 last year, splitting its regular season games (6-5 win, 7-0 loss) and then losing to the Tigers in GPAC postseason play 6-0.

The Tigers were swept by Dordt last time out, losing both games by one run, 11-10 and 7-6. Doane is currently in fourth place in the GPAC standings with a 7-5 record, a full two games in back of both Morningside and Northwestern, with eight games remaining. They are 3-2 over their last five and own a 23-15 overall record.

Hired last July to take over the program, Gamch inherits a Doane team that returns seven starters, including its top three pitchers, and a total of 10 players from a 2017 team that finished tied for eighth in the GPAC with an 8-12 record, 24-25 overall.
