The Northwestern College men's cross country and track and field program has been recognized in the USTFCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association) NAIA program of the year standings announced by the national office earlier today.
The
USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field seasons) based on the institution's finish at the NCAA Championships.
With the outdoor season remaining, Northwestern has 55 points through the cross country and indoor track and field seasons, and is the top ranked team from the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). The Red Raiders, under the direction of coaches
Scott Bahrke,
Tim Vander Ploege and
Carrie Krohn, placed 25th at the NAIA Cross Country Championship (25pts) and placed 29th at the Indoor Championships (30pts).
Eastern Oregon is the overall leader in the men's standings with 13.5 points, followed by Indiana Tech (14) and St. Francis (Ill.) with 17.
