Packer To Join Red Raider Football

Garrett Packer (Zearing, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College next fall.

Packer is a 5'10", 207-pound running back and linebacker who had an outstanding four-year career playing for Colo-Nesco High School. Packer accounted for nearly 1,300 yards and scored 23 touchdowns in leading his team to a 6-3 record as a senior. He rushed 111 times for 1,113 yards and 20 touchdowns while also catching seven passes for 71 yard and two scores. On defense, Packer registered a team-high 63 tackles to go with two quarterback sacks. He earned first team all-district honors two years and was an all-area selection as a junior. A member of the academic all-district team all four years, Packer plans to major in business and sports management at Northwestern. He is the son of Dale and Kem.

"Garrett is a powerful runner who had a very good high school career," said Northwestern head coach Matt McCarty. "He is strong, elusive and is a dual-threat coming out of the backfield. We are excited to have Garrett be part of our Red Raider football program."
